8 Strategies for Staying on top of your Social Media!

This blog I am going to talk about what I have found helps me and others to stay on top of your Social Media.

It can be hard in amongst everything else to keep your social media presence consistent, and it’s hard to find a spot in the day to devote to it, so I thought I would help you out by giving a few tips!

  1. Carve out time a week or each day to devote to your social media. This is where you can plan ahead. Start with your plan for the month. What are you going to post about? Do you have any special events or sales coming up? Plan this all out. Also don’t overpost if you don’t need to. A lot of people I know only post three times a week but on the same days each week to keep it consistent.

  2. Work out what you are going to do with your Stories. This is an integral part of your Instagram/Facebook strategy and it would be best to make sure you have a plan for this too. This can also be an everyday thing, or you can do Ask Me Monday, etc. Make sure you keep to a routine - but the great thing is is that you can also add spontaneity to your stories so if you want to add on something that isn’t in the plan but aligns with your social media plan, go for it!

  3. Spend time doing some social listening. Follow people that are customers or potential customers. Follow hashtags that you tag your own posts with. Like and comment on your followers posts. Watch their stories. This is a very important part of your strategy and its good . to do this a few minutes a day if you can.

  4. As in the first point, stay ahead. You can plan for a week, a month, even a year, but you need to keep ahead as posting ad hoc is often disastrous. You need to make sure that all of your posts are written well, optimised well, and follow a plan or story for your clients - especially if you are building a themed instagram with colors or topics etc.

  5. Treat your social media as one of the most important parts of your business. Spend the time to cultivate it, and it will reward you. It may seem taxing to sit down every week or day and spend time slogging away but its a FREE and important part of your business success so prioritise it high.

  6. You can use Hootsuite or other scheduling software to preschedule your posts - including Instagram! This means you can get a whole bunch of posts written, checked and scheduled, so you can get on with other things - especially if the best time to post for you is inconvenient!

  7. Build up a Media Library for your social media. Take pictures of your products/services, and anything else relevant to your business. Having a stackload of images means you wont run out of inspiration or things to post. Keep collecting pictures like a magpie.

  8. Save your relevant hashtags to a document to copy and paste when appropriate - saves you typing them out every single time!

I hope these strategies help. I think if you use an initial session to get organised, plan out what time or day suits you, and go for it, you will find that you will become more comfortable with it and also more confident and creative!
