Customer Engagement is your Key to Social Media Success (Freebie Inside)

Today’s blog concentrates on a much overlooked part of social media.

Being social!

The future of your business depends on loyal and engaged customers and followers. A lot of small businesses set up their profiles, write posts, set and forget. They forget you have to spend time talking and showing up online.

The future of social media at the moment is messaging apps - Facebook/Snapchat/Instagram/Whatsapp are all providing a private messaging services for a need their users have - to take being social privately with their nearest and dearest. We saw changes in Facebook’s algorithm to reflect that you will see you friends and family’s content first, before businesses.

This is a major issue for small businesses, and meant that a lot dropped off the radar for many people.

The ones that survived, were the ones that engaged their audience and showed Facebook that their content was important to people and so was shown earlier in the timeline. There is a great brand called Love Layla I follow who have a way with words and humour that make me laugh and comment on their posts, and still show up regularly in my feed after the algorithm change.

Every post you write needs to have something for your followers to engage with. Asking questions, taking polls, getting people to tag accounts - there is so much you can do to make your posts more fun to be around.

You also need to be watching your followers stories and making your own. Comment on your followers posts authentically and build up a relationship. Answering your DM’s timely and directing people to them - this is where a lot of business is conducted and where the personal touch can make or break a sale.

Advertising on Facebook messenger etc is a great one as you are within a platform that has a high usage and your ads will get seen in a different way.

Building up the Know/Like/Trust factor does take time. But at the end you will have not only loyal followers and customers, but advocates for you and your product. Fit in some time every day to engage with your audience and you will start to see results.

I have a free printout of a to do list that includes some of the things I’ve talked to you about today and also space for your own tasks and reminders. You can download it here!
