If Social Media went away, what would you have?

It’s a question that terrifies most Social Media Managers - what if social media went away?

It’s not a foreign concept - platforms die all the time. We are lucky to have a few that stick around and seem to be doing well.

However as a small business, it’s important not to put all your eggs in social media’s basket. You need to be formulating a strategy to direct people to things you own, like your website and mailing list.

Your website and your mailing list is something you own. You have a list of people you can email to generate sales, and your website will essentially become your main platform.

Start off by making your website as exciting and inviting as possible. Write blogs, make everything dynamic and designed to keep your users on your site as long as possible. If you have a shop, make the shopping experience easy. Put a banner to remind people to sign up to your email list.

Treat it as the hub of your whole business. A lot of small businesses make the mistake of making their social media their hub and that is something that will shortchange you in the future.

Any new thing you decided to provide, do it on your website first and direct your followers there. Promote your website often and get people to tap that link in your bio so they go to your platform.

Set up your email list and promote it often. You can send emails as often or as little as you want, but this is an important part of the buying journey as they have given you personal information to use, so they have put their trust in you that whatever you send them will be of use to them.

Send out emails that not only sell, but have interesting content - how tos, blogs, videos, news, and more. Send exclusive codes for your online shop out to your email subscribers. Monitor what emails are working well and move in that direction. This is your space to talk with your clients and encourage them to email you back too with feedback so you have a better idea of what they want.

Invest in your website and email and you will see results and more conversions!
